Potato Head will be your guide, and he animates around the room as you move from game to game. As you progress not only will you be able to unlock a whipping Achievement Points for each game , you can also earn trophies and even new items to decorate your virtual pimp pad with.
All of these is unnecessary, but certainly fun, and surprisingly well done. Yahtzee is one of those games that most will argue that it can certainly be played for much less than ten bucks. The digital version of the game is much like you remember. If you have never played Yahtzee think of it as poker with dice instead of cards. Essentially you start out with a score card that has a pre-determined number of different hands on it. The goal is to earn one of each hand with the highest score.
For instance you need to earn a pair, but obtaining a pair of ones will only net you two points, whereas a pair of sixes is worth twelve. You only get to keep one of each hand and some are harder to achieve than others, so it is best to know when to keep what you have. Each turn you are given three rolls and you can keep any number of dice from each roll.
Most of what you roll in Yahtzee is luck, but there is an underlying strategy involved with knowing which dice to keep, and which hands are the hardest to obtain.
The losing player gets a 'Chance Card'. The points earned from Chance Cards are shown at the end of the game, once all Combo Cards have been collected.
You should aim to win the 10 games in 'Quick Play'. Whilst there are only three Combo Cards available here, it is much quicker, and you are likely to pick up the Original-specific achievements along the way. All non-game specific achievements can be won in Remix Yahtzee. Aim to collect any two of the three Combo Cards in play to give yourself the best chance of winning. A good tip is to aim for the higher combos, but 'Hands Down!
If you manage to win at least two of the three Combo Cards, you will unlock the "Combo Knight" achievement.
When you 'Hands Down! If both players are going for the same Combo Card, the player with the best combo wins. For example, a three-of-a-kind using '6' will win against a three-of-a-kind using '5'. If you win a Combo Card by playing a higher combo than your opponent, you will unlock the "Raising The Bar" achievement.
The remainder of the Yahtzee achievements can be done locally using 4 controllers. I thought it might be cool playing an animated version of these games. Also, I wanted something easy and enjoyable for my folks to play, which this turned out to be perfect. I'm 33 yrs old and I was skeptical if it would be too kiddy like for me with the Mr.
Potato Head hanging out during each game. Potato turned out to be kind of humorous, and if you don't like him, there's an option to turn him off. All the games are very enjoyable. The Sorry Sliders is fun, but the controls are a little loose.
Meaning that you swing at the same pace, so you think, and one time you'll slid the right distance, then the next, way too hard. Just doesn't seem consistent. Sliders is a newer game, so if your not familiar with it like I was, I would explain it bei ng a little like shuffle board.
The Battle Ship is probably my favorite. There are different options you can do with all the games on the disk too.
For instance, Battle Ship has an option to play with super weapons, and a couple other different ways. There is one meaningless part of the game for me, and that would be your so called room. Here you collect different trophies and pieces of furniture to keep in your room. I could care less, but maybe the kids would like it. I do like how you make profiles for yourself and friends which keeps track of your stats for each game.
For instance, number of wins, how many ships sunk, largest word created in Boggle, ect. I highly recommend this game to people who like board games. Item Received Board games not as easy as just breaking out the old games in the closet. More effort on Wii than just sitting at the table playing them. Verified purchase: Yes Condition: Pre-owned. I bought this game for my 8-year-old daughter's birthday.
We have had a really good time playing it. I like all the games featured on it, especially Battleship. It's pretty user friendly and easy for everyone to understand. The only complaint we have is the gamecard for Yahtzee is a little hard to read it could be our older TV, though.
As far as a family friendly everyone can play game, this is a perfect combination. Skip to main content. About this product.
