Installing washer hose valve

Place the spirit level at the center front of the topdeck, forward of the lid lock slot. Check the machine is level. Adjust the front feet again if necessary. Move the spirit level around to all positions once more, checking the machine is level in all areas. Check the machine does not rock side to side, front to back, or corner to corner. If moving or transporting your washer in the future, ensure you tape the lid down beforehand. Your washer must be correctly installed before use. Closet doors must be louvered or otherwise ventilated and have at least 60 square inches of open area for a washer only, or if the closet contains both a washer and dryer, doors must contain at least square inches of open area equally distributed.

This appliance must be grounded. In the event of malfunction or break down, grounding will reduce the risk of electric shock by providing a path of least resistance for electric current.

This appliance is equipped with a cord that has an equipment-grounding conductor and a grounding plug. The plug must be plugged into an appropriate outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordinances. Due to the water and energy efficient nature of your machine, regular cleaning of the inside of your washer is necessary and important. Please refer to page 37 for more information.

Improper connection of an equipment-grounding conductor can result in a risk of electric shock. Check with a qualified electrician or serviceman if you are in doubt as to whether the appliance is properly grounded.

Do not modify the plug provided with the appliance — if it will not fit the outlet, have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician. Failure to do so can result in death, electric shock, fire or injury to persons. Observe all governing codes and ordinances.

Installation Requirements Location Your washer must be installed on firm, level flooring to minimize vibration during spin cycles. Shut Off Valves Both hot and cold shut-off valves faucets should be available in the laundry area.

Electrical This appliance must be supplied with V — V, 60Hz electrical supply and connected to an individual, properly grounded branch circuit, protected by a 15 or 20 amp circuit breaker or time delay fuse. Water Supply This washer must be plumbed into both a hot and cold water supply or it will not work correctly. Please ensure that both hot and cold water are connected to the washer.

If you have an uncontrolled water-heating source eg a wet back or solar heating you should have a tempering device fitted. Mount the main washer using all 16 screws included in the kit , 4 on each side of the unit using a Phillips screwdriver. Connect the center leg of the two Y-connectors to each of the short hoses and tighten firmly. Use the long water hoses not supplied to connect one hose to the hot water inlet valve and one hose on the cold water inlet valve and tighten firmly.

Now connect the main washer's hot inlet hose to the hot water faucet's Y-connector and connect the main washer's cold inlet hose to the cold water faucet's Y-connector. The reason for this is that unlike sump pumps that usually eject clear water, washing machines are continually ejecting water mixed with particulate. If the valve was mounted in the vertical position, particulate could get lodged in the valve easier and could cause it not to seal all the way.

If mounting it horizontally is not possible, then you could go ahead and try it vertically. The worst thing that could happen is that the valve could temporarily get stuck open and you end up right back to where you are today.

However, you probably need to solve the underlying problem of the slow drain which empties the washer and tub. Try some digestive enzymes such as Roebic RBC to open that common drainpipe. Or manually clean it out with an auger. If you have water backing up your drain line is partially plugged or under sized. I would fix the problem back pressure on the washer pump may cause it to fail much sooner than normal.

If the line is backing up it would be advisable to run a snake down the line to clear it out. Many homes have a clean out close to washers but not all. Snaking the line would be my first thing to attempt.
