I have been using a Dixon AT which required my holding the hose and re-positioning it a few times while the barbed fitting was being pushed into the hose to insure it would go in straight.
The Dixon AT holding cam would also chew up the exterior of the hose. Safety and effort are two advantages of a Push-Lock hose assembly tool vs manual installation.
The standard mandrels that come with the tool for straight fittings. We also have optional mandrels for the tough to do elbow fittings that are , series. The mandrels basically just sit in there and again they have a click on design just like the all the straight mandrels.
So they just click in place and hold the fitting really well.
