What type of computer is this? Make and model please. Is it a Dell, HP, compaq, home built? Is there a particular reason you are trying to do a re-install? Do you know if you have a recovery partition on the drive?

What does this mean? It sounds like you are attempting to install from within windows. You can't do that. Posted 17 April - AM. Please answer the questions that were asked otherwise we can only guess.

Thread starter vreggie Start date May 24, I had read on the internet that the way to install windows was to turn the computer off and boot from the USB, but that didn't work for me so I just started the setup straight from my account.

All good till during the setup it said "presetup. Check your txtsetup. Sif in the i folder" both files presetup. If it is just because the downloaded windows copy is no good, then I have no idea what to do either, because I can't seem to boot from another USB, so I'm stuck. I have looked all over for solutions to this and am currently fked do plz help!!! As we are not allowed to help with torrented software.

Now I am following your directions exactly. I am doing this on two seperate computers with two copies of win xp pro sp1a that Do physically install and run perfect. Any Idea why the driver packs are messing it up?

Guess I should just be happy that I have what I have. Or do the driver packs just not work that well. I run the runme. The error should say a filename or something in it. That would help to point you in the right direction. If you aren't installing the Mass Storage drivers this doesn't happen often.

The times when I have encountered a problem the most, without mass storage drivers is on some Dell computers. I get the portsys error.

This error is caused by a sound driver. You can read more about it in the DriverPack Sound section. Allthough I haven't been getting that error latley I have seen a few others claiming to have had a problem with it. Don't give up And here I am three years later having the same question.

To the best of my knowledge I have followed the advice given in this thread, to no avail but a headache. My problem is excactly as described above. But a picture speaks a thousand words:. Manually copy SetupORG. Restart the computer and continue with setup.

I got this error while working with a difficult laptop, a Fujitsu Siemens LG. The last 4. All the sources for the install were copied there. The first part became a 70 Gig partition of FAT I choose continue. Setup finished and restarted the computer, then the error showed up as the previous poster indicated. It may also say 'Previous Operating System on C:'. You need to be a member in order to leave a comment. Sign up for a new account in our community.
