Microsoft natural ergonomic keyboard 4000 disable f lock

I have the exact same issue as Arlpa, with the exact same keyboard and OS exact version is 6. I'm using a ThinkCentre desktop computer. My keyboard previously worked fine on a Thinkpad laptop, but does not work on my new desktop.

I attempted the hotfix, but while installing I got a message indicating that "The update is not applicable to your computer". One thing to note is that my "F Lock" key can be toggled only once after a boot-up i. It's state does affect the usage of the F-Keys, however none of the special keys e. Calculator do anything. The rest of the lockable keys caps, num, scroll all work fine. I appreciate the response, but that we not my issue.

I definitely knew what the F-Lock key is supposed to I'm currently using a MacBook, so I'm no longer using the Ergo keyboard, but I had never been able to resolve the original problem. I just got the Natural Ergonomic Keyboard running on Windows 7 bit. All the normal keys work just fine even the "home", "end", "delete", "page up", "PrtScn", and buttons like "F5" refreshed websites, all work fine. For some reason all of the special top row keys like the volume keys, the mute key, calculator key, the hot keys, etc..

Then I manually downloaded and installed the latest version "IntelliType 8. I restarted my computer -- still no changes, although this time I was able to hit the "F Lock" key and it turned off the light showing it was switched off.

But now all the F buttons like F5 does not work, of course now that "F Lock" is turned off it should "open" which I tested in Word and it does nothing. I tested "undo" and "redo" buttons that were F2 and F3, but it didn't work either. Now the "F Lock" button doesn't work and I can't turn it back on. So now the "F Lock" key, all the F1-F12 keys even their alternate functions , and all the special top keys volume keys, etc The last keyboard I used was Microsoft's Natural Pro and I don't think I installed any software for that, and if I did, I can't seem to find it in "Programs and Features" to uninstall it, if that's even an issue.

I restarted, and looking at the history it showed that it failed to install. I looked up the error code and Microsoft Help says its most likely due to you already having the same or more updated driver.

I researched long and hard to find other possible solutions, but have found none. Any help would be appreciated! This thread is locked. This method also works on any operating system and gives the F12 key back its proper place as the right most of the function keys, making it easy to find without looking.

Painfully repetitive, but easy. Assign Help to "Macro F1". Assign Undo to "Macro F2". Assign Redo to "Macro F3". Assign Print to "Macro F12". Now the function keys act as function keys regardless of the F Lock key.
